MANOWAR - O METAL MAIS ALTO DO MUNDO

BIOGRAFIA.
Manowar é uma banda dos Estados Unidos de heavy metal, formada em 1980, que tem como líderes o baixista Joey DeMaio e o vocalista Eric Adams.
História.
A banda surgiu em 1980, quando o baixista Joey DeMaio, que fazia um projeto com o vocalista Ronnie James Dio, perdeu a parceria do mesmo, pois Dio fora chamado para atuar como vocalista da banda Black Sabbath, e assim DeMaio correu em busca de uma nova formação. O Manowar lançou o seu primeiro e clássico álbum Battle Hymns em 1982. A formação na época consistia em Eric Adams (vocal), Joey DeMaio (baixo) – ambos no grupo até hoje – além de Ross The Boss (guitarra, que permaneceu até o lançamento de Kings of Metal, 1988) e Donnie Hanzik (bateria, que só gravou o primeiro álbum). Scott Columbus assumiu as baquetas e permanece até hoje, embora não tenha gravado o disco The Triumph of Steel (gravado por Kenny Earl “Rhino” Edwards). Manowar se destaca entre as maiores bandas de Metal do mundo e seu álbum mais atual do é thunder in the sky (2009).
A característica marcante da banda, além de sua polêmica auto-promoção é seu discurso em prol do verdadeiro heavy metal, sua temática epica e lírica que mistura temas como mitologia nórdica, mulheres, velocidade, guerras, e que os seus fãs do são os melhores e mais dedicados do mundo. Musicalmente, a banda executa o estilo tradicional de heavy metal, com influências de power metal, a banda é criadora do estilo True Metal uma variavel do Heavy Metal. O Manowar detém ainda o seu nome inscrito no Guiness Book of Records como o grupo que conseguiu atingir o som mais alto jamais tocado em palco (sendo o mesmo comparado ao som emitido pela turbina de um Boeing na altura de levantar voo).
Recentemente o grupo lançou o dvd The Day the Earth Shook – The Absolute Power em 2006, e em 2007 lançou o Live Kavarna, que contem mais de tres horas de show, o mesmo adentrou ao Guiness Book. Recentemente a banda quebrou seu próprio recorde, em um show que durou cinco horas e um minuto.
A banda já vendeu mais de 9 milhões de álbuns em todo o mundo.
